The main job is to refer to the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) to compare patient’s symptoms and behaviors and helping them understand their condition, causes and treatment options, as well as conducting research studies to learn more about conditions like OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder), bipolar disorders, psychotic disorders ,schizophrenia or anxiety disorders.
The department is responsible of asking patients about any new symptoms or changes since they last spoke or if it is the first session and ask them what is the unusual sign alert, while giving patients the opportunity to speak about their conditions and discuss accomplishments or setbacks.
